Since 2010, Janssen has been supporting community development in Bangladesh, in partnership with the non-governmental organizations Friendship and the Max Foundation. The collaboration with Friendship is providing the logistics and infrastructure needed to support the government’s child immunization program, which aims to vaccinate all children under five years of age with a set of vaccines recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). Our partnership with the Max Foundation is providing rural communities in southern Bangladesh with a sustainable supply of clean water—another key prerequisite for health.
Another initiative we are pleased and proud to continue, with support from Johnson & Johnson, is our global corporate social responsibility (CSR) outreach program called Footprint. This provides employees the opportunity to disadvantaged communities where we are supporting critical development projects.
In 2013, we launched a new CSR outreach program with the aim of engaging a larger number of employees in community help. ‘The community days’ is a global program with a local focus. It gives employees a broad range of opportunities to contribute something extra to the communities in which they live and work.
