Care for the World’s Women & Children

Our Efforts for the World’s Women and Children

Through our parent company Johnson & Johnson, Janssen is committed to help realise the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. This is a set of eight priorities the UN has set for the world, including ending extreme poverty and hunger or achieving universal primary education, to be achieved by 2015.

Since the call-to-action in 2010 by the UN we responded with a five-year commitment to improve the health of as many as 120 million women and children each year, in at least fifty countries, by that time. With this program we support three other Millennium Development Goals, which are:

  • Reduce child mortality
  • Improve maternal health
  • Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other disease

Since that time the Johnson & Johnson companies have launched numerous initiatives and partnerships to achieve our commitment.

Last week Sharon K. D’Agostino, Vice President Corporate Citizenship at Johnson & Johnson, who is coordinating our efforts, wrote a blog post on the occasion of International Corporate Philanthropy Day, showing we have made good progress in honouring our commitment.
